Summer Intern Housing

In May, June and July, we open the University Village community to college students around the world embarking on experiential learning opportunities in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

We are eager to welcome summer interns to our community on the Hammond Campus for Summer 2024!

Friday, March 29, 2024, at 5 p.m. (guarantee roommates!)

Friday, May 31, 2024, at 5 p.m.
Applications will not be accepted after this date.

Rate

  • 4 Bedroom– approx. $22.50 per night (from May 12 – August 3, 2024, at 5 p.m.)
  • 2 Bedroom (if available) – approx. $26.00 per night (from May 12 – August 3, 2024, at 5 p.m.)
  • No refunds will be given if your stay is adjusted after signing the housing contract in your Intern Application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a current student at an accredited institution.
  • Submit a letter of employment from the company/organization you are interning with, on company letterhead, with your start and end dates.
    • Arrival/Departure dates must be between Sunday, May 12 at 9 a.m. and Saturday, August 3 at 5 p.m.
      • We are unable to offer housing after August 3. Any request must be submitted to our Housing Operations Coordinator via housing@pnw.edu.
  • All decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and the final determination of start and end dates will be made by the Department of Housing and Residential Education.

To apply for Summer Intern Housing, interns must:

  1. Complete the summer intern housing application: Summer Housing Intern Application. You must attach the following to your application or it will not be considered:
    • Internship site confirmation letter
  2. Submit immunization information here.
  3. Submit and Pay your $220 Housing Deposit (refundable) and Application Fee payment via check/money order to the address below

After you have submitted your application as well as the above items, your housing status will be confirmed via email. Housing confirmation will begin during the week of May 1.

Payment Information

All deposit payments must be postmarked by April 30, 2024. You will not receive your housing assignment until this payment is received. Please mail them to the address indicated below.

All rent payments must be:

  • Made in full before/on your move-in day
    • If payment cannot be made on your move-in day due to a company stipend, you will be asked to set up a payment plan with our Business Manager before you can move in and will be expected to make payments on the dates indicated in your payment plan. Please make sure you understand how your stipend will be given/paid to you before you arrive.
  • Must be paid by check/money order and mailed to our main office in Griffin Hall (address below). We cannot accept any credit cards. Please make checks payable to “Purdue University Northwest” and put “SUMMER INTERN” in the memo section.

Move-in Day

  • Move-in Day: Sunday, May 12, 2024, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Griffin Hall (to schedule a check-in time after 1 p.m., please email Laura Trosien (ltrosien@pnw.edu))
  • Carts will be available at the front desk, please bring a state-issued picture ID to check out a cart.
  • Payment plans must be made and signed before you can move in.

    • Be sure to put their name on your application! If the request is not mutual, it cannot be honored so be sure to tell your friends to put your name down as well!
    • Roommate requests are not guaranteed, housing will do their best to match you with others of similar interest based on your application.
  • Wanna go to the Hammond Campus Fitness Center during your stay?
  • Check out our dining options (purchased individually, outside of the Housing Office)
  • No parking permit is required on campus, but we do require you to register your car.
  • Download the PayRange App to use our laundry facilities!
  • Here are some items you will need to bring with you:
    • TV
    • Shower curtain (required)
    • Bathmat (required)
    • Toilet paper
    • Extra long bed linen
    • Lamp (if preferred)
    • Dishes
    • Dish Soap
    • Laundry Detergent (HE liquid only please)
