The PNW First Year Advising team is thrilled to have you here! We understand that starting something new can be exciting but also overwhelming and confusing.

We are here to teach you essential skills and help you have a positive, worthwhile college experience.

Steps to First Year Success!

Whatever your path may be, we’re excited to support you as you begin your journey at PNW. Below are a few tips to help you get off to a smooth start—and make the most of your time as part of the Pride!

1. Build Community

You are not alone! Download and use the myPNWlife app to discover campus organizations and events; talk to classmates; go to drop-in advising; and attend office hours.

2. Get the Help You Need

PNW offers free student resources  you are expected to use —academic, personal and professional—to help you along your journey.

3. Advocate for Yourself

Your circumstances and needs may change for a lot of reasons…and not always ones you
can control! Ask for help and keep your advisor updated.

4. Check Your PNW Email Daily

Every campus member communicates via PNW email, and the same is expected of you!

5. Power Onward

Do not be discouraged by setbacks or when things do not go your way. Rise to the challenge: success is in your control!
