Suspending On-Campus Operations

From time to time it may become necessary to suspend in-person and on-campus operations at one or both of the PNW campuses due to adverse weather conditions or other emergencies. If we must alter normal campus operations, we will notify students, faculty and staff in the manner listed below.

Notifications to students, faculty and staff will begin as soon as possible after a decision is made to suspend on campus operations or close a campus.

Review Emergency Guides and Procedures

Please note that if campus is “closed” due to weather or an emergency, your classes are not canceled! Instructional activities at PNW will shift to remote learning for the duration of the closure.

Students are advised to check your email and/or Brightspace for details from the instructor.

As a general procedure, if operations at one or both campuses are officially suspended for any reason, instructional activities at those locations will shift to remote learning for the duration of the closure.

Each college, department or office is responsible for notifying part-time employees, guests and others they have scheduled to be on campus on the day of a campus closing.

As a general procedure, if operations at one or both campuses are officially suspended for any reason, staff who are not designated as essential personnel, and who have the resources to work remotely during their regular working shift, are expected to do so.

Please be advised that instructional activities at PNW will shift to remote learning for the duration of the closure.

Department managers are asked to review with all staff your unit’s operational procedures in the event of a suspension of campus operations. Unit leaders are responsible for communicating expectations to staff in advance of potential wintry weather. Following any emergency suspension of campus operations, Human Resources will share information about pay for employees during the duration of that incident.
