Mock Interview Policy

Mock interviews are a required part of the BUSM 30000 and BUSM 30100 curriculum and provide students an opportunity to practice and enhance important interview and professional skills.

Mock interviews should be taken as seriously as if they are a real job or internship interview.  In addition to the educational experience that is received, they are a possible networking and recruiting opportunity.

Interview Sign Ups

Students will sign up for mock interviews through Handshake. Detailed instructions will be provided in BUSM 30000 or BUSM 30100.

No sign ups will be permitted after the window has closed.  If you missed the sign up window you will be required to reach out to Samantha Horn AND Joelynn Stephen to discuss why you did not sign up.  We cannot guarantee the day, time, or employer if you do not sign up during the specified time.

Interview time slots swaps will not be permitted between students unless both parties email Samantha Horn AND Joelynn Stephen.

Cancellation and Missed Mock Interviews

Make up interviews will not be permitted for missed or canceled interviews.  Make ups may be considered due to extenuating circumstances; documentation will be required and you must contact Samantha Horn AND Joelynn Stephen.

If you miss or cancel an interview you will be required to send an apology email to the employer you were scheduled with and copy Samantha Horn AND Joelynn Stephen on the correspondence.

It is the student’s responsibility to know what campus their interview will be taking place on.  Not knowing what campus is not an excuse for missing an interview.

Day of Mock Interview

Please arrive 10 minutes early to your assigned interview location and check in with a Center for Career Management staff member. The staff member will check you in and let the employer know you arrived.

If you will be late to the scheduled interview it is your responsibility to alert the Center for Career Management by emailing Samantha Horn. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late we cannot guarantee that the employer will see you. If this occurs you will be marked as a no-show and will not receive points for this assignment.

Professional attire is also required for mock interviews. If you have concerns or questions regarding the required attire please contact Samantha Horn or Joelynn Stephen.
