SUMMARY:Integrating AI Into Your Teaching
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER TO ATTEND \nTOPIC: Adapt Traditional Taxonomies for Teaching/Learning for AI\nIn this presentation\, Dr. Mark Mabrito\, AI Faculty Fellow\, will present three custom AI tools he has created three custom AI tools he created that re-envision two scales for categorizing higher-order thinking skills (Bloom’s Taxonomy and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge) and his own scale\, “Four Stages of Thinking with AI” in contexts where students use AI as a thinking partner \nCustom AI Tools\n\nCustom AI: AI-Enhanced Bloom’s Taxonomy Converter: Transforms traditional Bloom’s Taxonomy levels into an AI-inclusive taxonomy that integrates human–AI collaboration\, critical prompting\, and co-creative thinking. It re-imagines the hierarchy of learning objectives to fit contexts where students use AI tools as thinking partners. \n\n\nCustom AI: AI Depth of Knowledge Reimaginer: Reimagines Norman Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) framework for Artificial Intelligence\, integrating AI-assisted reasoning\, creativity\, and collaboration. \n\n\nCustom AI: AI Thinking Assignment Creator. Walks you through creating assignments based on Mark’s model of the “Four Stages of Thinking with AI.” \n\n“Integrating AI Into Your Teaching” is a series of interactive virtual sessions designed to introduce faculty to innovative AI tools and applications that can enhance teaching and research practices. SUMMARY:Sparkshop: Carrying Your Students' Stress
DESCRIPTION:Session Overview:\nAs faculty\, you often become a trusted person students turn to when they’re navigating crises\, trauma\, or emotionally heavy situations. While you want to be supportive\, hearing these difficult stories can take a toll on your own well‑being. This session explores the concept of secondary traumatic stress—the emotional strain that can arise from empathizing with someone else’s pain. We’ll discuss why these reactions are both common and normal\, how to recognize when you’re carrying students’ stress as your own\, and practical strategies for setting boundaries\, managing emotional residue\, and caring for yourself in healthy ways. Participants will leave with tools to maintain compassion for students while also protecting their own emotional resilience.  \nREGISTER FOR SPARKSHOP CONNECTION INFORMATION \nYou only need to register once for any one Sparkshop as the connection information is the same for all Sparkshops. \nAbout Sparkshops:\nSparkshops are 15 minute mini-workshops\, facilitated by CFE staff.  Sparkshops are meant to start exploration of a chosen topic with continued support from the CFE as requested. \nEach Sparkshop provides: \n\nAn introduction or re-imagined approach to an evidence-based teaching practice\, or productivity strategy\nPotential reasons faculty or staff might incorporate the practice in their course(s) or work flow\nExamples of how the practice can be implemented\nResources for further investigation of the practice\n\nLEARN MORE ABOUT SPARKSHOPS \nChange One Thing Program:\nAttending Sparkshops adds to your eligibility to receive the “Change One Thing” Certificate. \nTo earn the certificate\, participants will:✔ Attend at least three sparkshops\, workshops (e.g.\, Integrating AI Into Your Teaching sessions) or other learning opportunities offered by the Center for Faculty Excellence.✔ Implement a small but impactful change in one of their courses.✔ Submit a brief reflection on the change and its anticipated or observed impact. \nLEARN MORE ABOUT THE CHANGE ONE THING CERTIFICATE \nLocation\nVirtual – register for connection information. \nAudience\nAll Faculty
