Graduate Teaching Assistant Support

The Center for Faculty Excellence offers training and support to Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs).

In Fall 2019, a three-part training program was offered to address topics critical to the success of GTAs.

An overview of the session topics is below:

Workshop Topics

Section 1: Your Role in Undergraduate Student Success at PNW

  • This session focused on understanding PNW students and how they learn.  Key policies and laws impacting work with undergraduate students was reviewed.

Section 2 : Connecting to PNW Resources

  • This session explained the role of key support units on campus and help GTAs identify resources and strategies to address various instructional and student-related scenarios.

Section 3: Engaging learners and Managing a Classroom

  • This session introduced several active learning strategies GTAs can use to engage their learners and explain best practices for managing a classroom.
