Memo from the Office of the Chancellor
Dear Campus Community:
As we close the 2017-18 academic year, we can reflect upon a year of considerable progress and success. Two of our Colleges were hailed in U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings, we opened our new Couple & Family Therapy Center, and we break ground next month on our $40 million BioScience and Innovation Building. We are seeing promising trends as our out-of-state tuition yields new students from Illinois and Michigan. Our NCAA Division II standing is in full swing, and our student-athletes are performing exceptionally well in the classroom and on the fields and courts. In 2018 PNW was gifted the $12 million Taltree Arboretum, now the Gabis Arboretum at PNW, which is one of the largest university arboretums in the country. During the annual Day of Giving, nearly 600 donors contributed over $1 million to Purdue University Northwest.
In recent weeks, the University has awarded Teaching Incentive Awards recognizing outstanding teaching, celebrated promotions, and wished a fond Bon Voyage to cherished retiring colleagues and friends.
And just yesterday, we concluded our fourth Commencement Ceremony honoring over 1,100 students.
These notable accomplishments, among others, reflect our collective work and deep commitment to our students, the University, and the Community.
I wish you all a productive and enjoyable summer.
