Explore our frequently asked questions regarding Spring 2021 Commencement at PNW!

PNW is planning outdoor, in-person ceremonies, with appropriate health and safety protocols, to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2021. The ceremonies will be held May 15 in the area south of the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building on the Hammond Campus. The rain date is May 16.

The ceremonies are planned for May 15. The rain date is May 16.

The times for the two ceremonies will be 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • Colleges invited to the 10 a.m. ceremony are: College of Nursing and the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences
  • Colleges invited to the 4 p.m. ceremony are: College of Business, College of Engineering and Sciences, and College of Technology

We anticipate that each graduating student will receive up to four tickets for guests. More information will be sent to graduating students in early March 2021.

Cap and gowns can be purchased at the Bookstore in Hammond, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or they can be ordered online. You can choose to have the regalia shipped or select in-store pickup at Hammond or Westville. You will need to know your height and weight at time of purchase, to ensure the appropriate sized regalia. All purchases of regalia are a final sale. The deadline to purchase regalia is April 22.

All PNW COVID-19 protocols must be followed while on campus. Guests will be seated in “pods” to assure appropriate social distancing. Face coverings will be required following PNW and state protocols. There will be no indoor events (e.g. receptions) associated with the Spring 2021 commencement activities.

We are unable to invite graduates of past semesters to participate in the commencement ceremonies, in consideration of the health and safety of all involved, available space, and other important factors. All members of the Class of 2020 were invited to the Graduate Celebration Events on both campuses in December.

In the proud tradition of celebrating the academic achievements of our students, PNW invites candidates for graduation from each college to participate with their fellow classmates in commencement each semester. Students graduate with their fellow students in their college, school and major. This gives PNW students and faculty the opportunity to celebrate our shared experiences in and out of the classroom. Commencement ceremonies are held in Hammond in spring semesters and in Westville in fall semesters.
