The Disability Access Center provides registered students with documented disabilities equal access to Purdue University Northwest. We want to ensure that students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in any course, program, or activity while maintaining the same academic standards for all students.
Our goal is to partner with students, their families, faculty, and staff to create a welcoming environment so that students with disabilities are welcomed to participate in activities available at Purdue University Northwest.
How to Register
To register as a student with a disability at Purdue University Northwest the student completes the Apply Now forms on the Disability Access Center website and then schedules a confidential intake consultation with a Disability Access Center staff member.
Students will need appropriate current documentation from a qualified medical provider. During the intake consultation, the student’s current documentation of disability paperwork will be reviewed to determine disability, barriers caused by the disability, and appropriate accommodations.
Additional factors discussed may include past accommodations, their effectiveness, as well as current class types and programs of study. Accommodations are based primarily on documentation provided. All students concerned about a possible disability impacting their university experience should contact the Disability Access Center. In some situations we may be able to assist the student with securing the needed documentation.
