The benefits and rewards do not stop once a student has been inducted into the Society as there are plenty of opportunities available for inducted members. Students may earn a chair on PNW chapter’s Executive Board, scholarships that are only available to Society members, or personalized letters of recommendation. Students may go above and beyond their initial requirements by attending additional speaker broadcasts and success network team meetings, along with putting in some community service hours to receive the National Engaged Leader Award (NELA), which 22 students have already earned here on campus.
This is just one step Purdue University Northwest is taking towards increasing student leadership on campus. The myriad of benefits that the society offers students and the mere opportunity of this honorable distinction has attracted many students on campus. With our plans to continue evolving this program to be the best it can be, things are only looking up for our chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Purdue University Northwest holds a two day, overnight leadership conference each year for current and new incoming students. The Student Leadership Conference gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and improve upon their leadership skills and development necessary for their personal and academic careers.
The conference provides students with two days full of Leadership Development Sessions where faculty and staff members of PNW, as well as business professionals, present on a wide range of topics that are all centered around the concept of leadership and skill development.
Along with these Leadership Development Sessions, students will have plenty of opportunities to network with their fellow student leaders during a lot of team building activities, as well as during their down time. Students also have the opportunity to mingle and chat with department heads, deans of their academic college, professors and professionals in their given areas of interests.
Student Leadership Conference Includes:
- All meals for duration of two days
- Leadership Development Breakout Sessions
- Team Building activities
- Opportunity to meet and mingle with academic leaders on campus
- Giveaways through the conference
- A night full of fun activities on first day of conference
- Two days full of networking opportunities
