Volunteer Work Day

September 9 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every 2 weeks that begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, repeating until October 8, 2023

Every 2nd Saturday
Help us with restoring our native habitat, weeding in the garden, or with mulching the trails.
Many habitats at Gabis Arboretum have become degraded due to fire suppression and invasive species. One way we can help the plants and animals that live in these habitats is through the removal of invasive plant species. Invasive species are non-native species from other places in the world that outcompete the native ones. If the invasive plants species are not removed, they will take over a landscape and the animals that live there will leave because they cannot use the invasive species. Help us in restoring our native ecosystem so that the animals that have been here for millennia don’t lose their home.
For all volunteer workdays, make sure to dress appropriately for the weather, as well as bring plenty of water. We will provide water and snacks for all those that would like some. You will also have access to the arboretum for the day, since anyone volunteering will get in free of charge.
Please let us know you’re coming so that we can contact you in case of cancellation.
Email Barb Raschke braschke@pnw.edu.
