1.63 miles – Bluebird Trail
The Bluebird trail is the longest at Gabis Arboretum. It begins at the main parking lot and is comprised, in various sections, of mowed grass and mulch. The trail takes visitors through prairies, along reforestation and the Savanna Wetland, through woods and back to the parking lot. Named for the many bluebirds that nest in boxes in the prairie, this trail has the most diverse flora and fauna of all Gabis Arboretum trails. Watch bobolinks fly over the prairie, marvel at the many wildflowers dancing in the breeze, and perhaps see a graceful whitetail deer bounding across the landscape.
