Trail of Scarecrows is an annual competition for K-5 school groups or scout groups. Students work together to create a scarecrow based on book themes or characters. This year’s theme: FRIENDSHIP! Scarecrows will be displayed near the Depot and prairie. More information.

ARTISTS WHO LOVE NATURE: FEATURING THE WORK OF ANDY GOLDSWORTHY

In this class, attendees will begin by watching a documentary on Goldsworthy and his unique style of nature-themed artwork. Then, under the guidance of retired art teacher, Marcia Carson, they will go out into nature and produce ephemeral art themselves. $10 members/$15 non-members. More information.

Join the arboretum birders on a morning stroll through prairies, woodlands and wetlands, exploring the arboretum’s wide variety of birds–both those that live at the arboretum and those that stop-over during autumn migration. Join Gabis Arboretum for a fun Fall Family Weekend! Enjoy a complimentary hay ride, ride on the Sprout Express, golf cart tour, or walk the Trail of Scarecrows. Pumpkin painting will also be available for an additional fee. All hiking trails will be open as well. Admission is $10 per non-member car load. More information.

Bottle and Bottega is hosting a fall wood panel workshop at Gabis Arboretum. Participants will create a fall, rustic panel for their home. $55 members/$65 non-members. More information.
CARING FOR YOUR CHICKENS IN WINTER & BEYOND

This class will teach you how to help your stock stay healthy and happy through the harsher months of the year. Our Gabis Arboretum livestock crew will meet you at the chicken house and give you a guided tour, specifically focused on how we prep our poultry for a comfy winter season. PUTTING YOUR ROSES TO BED FOR WINTER

TRICK OR TREES: HALLOWEEN IN THE RAILWAY GARDEN

See the creepy crawlies that the Traveling World of Reptiles has to offer in an educational, but fun presentation at 1 pm. Trick or Treating in the Railway Garden will begin at 3pm.
