Trail of Scarecrows returns!
This popular annual exhibit features scarecrows designed and built by students based on a character from a book. This year’s theme is “courage.” Guests vote on their favorite. A winner is chosen at the end of the month. Groups interested in entering the competition should contact Ellen Kapitan at 219-742-8147.
Mums and flower bulb sale
The horticulture team will be selling mums and flower bulbs at the Railway Depot to raise funds for the gardens. Select from crocus, tulips, daffodils, & fun fritillaria to enhance your home garden. Gabis Arboretum horticulture staff will be on-hand over the weekend to offer advice and gardening tips. Bulbs and mums will be on sale through October while supplies last.
Weekends in October are $10 carload days. This pricing does not apply to individual admissions less than $10 or member admission. Advance tickets not required.
