Get to Know CHESS Academic Advisor Pam Ayala

Pamela Ayala, joined CHESS in 2018 as advisor to the School of Education and Counseling. She currently advises students majoring in elementary education, early childhood education and social studies teaching.

Ayala graduated with her BA in business administration as well as her Master’s in Business Administration. She points to her own academic advisor as influential to her to becoming an academic advisor.

Ayala believes it is important for students to become involved on campus and take advantage of university resources. She stated, “Join a club or organizations, enroll in classes that might be outside of your comfort zone, volunteer somewhere new, take advantage of all networking events, study abroad, try a new sport, etc.” She went on to say, “Ask for help when you need it, take advantage of professor’s office hours, meet with your advisor, use the library and lean on your classmates for support.”
