Information Services 2018 Accomplishments
A look at a few of the major accomplishments across IS, including Customer Support Center, Technological Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Application Services, Learning Technologies, Information Security Services and University Library.
PNW Mobile App
The PNW Mobile App was launched for the first time to help students, staff and faculty access information easily.
Information Services setup all student, faculty and staff to use a two-factor authentication (Boilerkey) for all CAS authenticated websites.
Wireless Service Expansion
Information Services has added new wireless access points to provide high density and expanded wireless coverage at the Hammond campus student dormitories.
Outdoor wireless testing is also underway for final roll out at the Westville campus.
2018 MISO Survey
Information Services conducted the MISO Survey which is a web-based quantitative survey designed to measure how faculty, students, and staff view the library and computing services in higher education and gather feedback on how we can better serve this population.
The IS Audio Visual team consulted and worked with the faculty and a vendor to find a solution for the Sales Lab. They also worked with a vendor on the install of the equipment that is being used in the Sales Lab.
Banner 9 Transition
Information Services upgraded the student management system from Banner 8 to 9. This is the latest release delivered by Ellucian that provides a new look and feel.
The University Library digitized student newspapers from 1954-2014. These digitized newspapers are ADA compliant and we are able to collect metrics from them.
Student Newspaper Archives
Active learning classrooms are student-centered, technology-rich classrooms. They are easily identified with their large student tables and moveable seating designed to facilitate and promote active learning. As we have been renovating classrooms we are moving some of them to Active Learning.
The Audio Visual team works to install all the technologies and the OIT works with the faculty how to use the technology in the rooms for their classes.
Active Learning Classrooms
Project Management Tool
Information Services implemented a project portfolio management tool, Daptiv PPM, to plan initiatives, execute the right resources and management tools, and deliver projects on time and on budget.
Association of College & University Educators
The staff in the Office of Instructional Technology worked with the Center for Faculty Development and the faculty in the program on showing them how to integrate technology in the new concepts they are learning.
IS implemented an improved change process control, incident response, Change Advisory Board and Documentation Process to effectively manage changes to systems at PNW. This process also minimizes incidents and increases transparency and awareness of changes.
The University Library hosted an event to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein.
The makeup transformation was created by our own Alan McCafferty.
