The Computer Replacement Program (CRP) ensures the efficient replacement of computers used in classrooms, labs, public spaces, and offices. The goal of this initiative is to provide Purdue University Northwest students, faculty, and staff with current and reliable technology for classroom and business use.
No. We will use the inventory system (LANDesk) to identify aging computers that are in need of update. To be notified, ensure that the LANDesk agent is installed on your current system(s).
A $600 subsidy credit will be applied towards the cost of the device. The balance must be paid from your department cost center.
You will receive an email from email@example.com containing a link to a survey that will escort you through the replacement process. Please note: to ensure that the orders are placed in a timely manner, there will be a limited amount of time where the survey can be completed. The specified time will be listed in the email. Please complete it promptly.
The old system will first be analyzed to ensure all work related data is backed up for restore onto the new system. Once this data is backed up, the technician will work with the primary user(s) to ensure that all university supported software is captured for install on the new machine. The old machine is retired through the university e-waste program while the data is restored to the new system. Once all data and software is on the new machine, the technician will finish the computer installation at the desk and work with the primary user(s) to ensure no problems are encountered.
Typically, new equipment installs take less than an hour, but we will schedule an estimated 2 hour appointment with the primary user(s) to ensure important files are copied to the new machine university supported software is installed, peripherals are in working order, and to ensure normal working order. To help reduce this time, we recommend transferring important files to your H drive before the scheduled appointment.
