Microsoft has officially announced the end of support for Windows 7 after January 14, 2020. What does this mean for you?
No more security updates! Without any updates, Windows 7 will be more vulnerable to security risk.
How can you upgrade your PNW machine?
Information Services is working to schedule appointments with users on Windows 7. If you notice you are on Windows 7, please contact the CSC at 219-989-2888 to schedule your appointment today!For more information, check out our FAQ.
What happens if I don’t upgrade my PNW device?
- After January 14, 2020, any PNW-owned computer identified as not upgraded to Windows 10, will be temporarily removed from the PNW network.
- Non-compliant devices will not have the ability to utilize network services such as Internet, printing, SharePoint, network drives, etc. Local data will remain intact.
- To re-establish network services, users will need to contact CSC to schedule an appointment to reimage their PNW-owned computer to Windows 10 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
What about your personal device?
If you are currently on Windows 7, you will need to purchase a Windows 10 license. You can go to purdue.onthehub.com to get a license at low cost or even free (depending on eligibility).
