Pages and Posts

The PNW CMS implementation leverages a variety of Page and Post Types. This section explains the most common types that are available to content contributors.

Posts

People who are familiar with WordPress will recognize the Post template as it is based on the default WordPress template. On the PNW site, the Post is used to publish news and news-related content. Posts are primarily managed within the main PNW site and can be broadcasted to sites across the multisite network.

Events

PNW Events are managed with a WordPress plugin called The Events Calendar Pro. The plugin provides a structured template with fields that are relevant to marketing and promoting events. The plugin also includes calendar views including a list view and a monthly view. PNW’s approach to managing events on the website is based on the standard capabilities of the plugin, with customizations limited to the look-and-feel of the pages.

Pages

Within the CMS, Pages are very similar to Posts. The key difference is that Pages live within the menu system of the site information architecture and thus are more of a permanent part of the website. Pages require a template assignment. The assigned template determines the layout of the page and the available fields and modules. The two key templates that pertain to editors are the Standard template and the Full-Width template.

  • The Standard template is the most widely used template across the multisite network. The layout includes a main column, a right sidebar and a full-width region at the bottom of the page. Learn more about working with Standard Pages.
  • The Full-Width template is used for marketing critical pages including landing pages and academic program pages. The layout is a single full-width region that includes 20+ module options.
