“With a Little Help from Our Friends,” Purdue University Calumet hopes to turn a Beatles musical tribute into an evening, Saturday, May 16, that benefits its Chancellor’s scholarship program.
Featuring the Beatles tribute band, American English, Purdue Calumet will turn back the calendar to the 1960s for a fab four magical mystery tour of music, memories, merriment and more.
The evening begins at 6 o’clock with a social time in Alumni Hall of Purdue Calumet’s Student Union & Library. Dinner and concert follow.
Proceeds from each $100 admission will support the Purdue Calumet Chancellor’s Scholars Endowment. The endowment funds full tuition, renewable Chancellor’s Scholar Awards for high school valedictorians and salutatorians. Each award also includes a stipend for textbooks and supplies and, for residential students, 50 percent of living expenses at Purdue Calumet’s furnished apartment complex, The University Village.
“‘With a Little Help from Our Friends’ this event is designed to connect a gloriously unprecedented musical past with the opportunistic future of supporting academically talented young people in their quest to earn a Purdue degree and, subsequently, contribute to our society,” Purdue Calumet Vice Chancellor for Advancement Judith Kaufman said.
