PNW gifts well ahead of this point last year, nearing $800,000
Donors are showing their support for Purdue University Northwest as contributions continue to come in Wednesday for Purdue Northwest’s annual Day of Giving.
The 24-hour opportunity to give to PNW launched Tuesday at 11:00 p.m. CDT, or local time in Northwest Indiana. Donations can be made online at pnw.edu/DayofGiving through 10:59 p.m. CDT (11:59 EDT) April 25. All gifts are welcomed to support student scholarships, academic programs, athletics and more.
As of Noon, PNW gifts were well ahead of totals at this point last year at more than $794,655 with more than 412 donations coming in from throughout Northwest Indiana, the state and across the nation.
Regina Biddings-Muro, vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement, thanked everyone who has donated so far for their generosity.
“This Day of Giving provides an exciting and fun way for everyone associated with our university to support PNW, our students and our two vibrant campuses,” Biddings-Muro said. “Each donation will help transform the lives of Purdue Northwest students. We are truly grateful to everyone who has supported Purdue Northwest Day of Giving, and we encourage those who wish to further the impact of higher education in Northwest Indiana to participate before the day ends.”
A convenient way to give
The fifth annual Day of Giving involves all Purdue institutions and provides PNW alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, community members and friends a 24-hour opportunity to give to PNW and to support student scholarships, academic programs, athletics and more. There are several fundraising challenges and opportunities for matching funds to raise even more for PNW.
Last year’s Day of Giving raised more than $900,000 in support of PNW students and programs.
“Each year the response from our Purdue Northwest supporters to the Day of Giving is stronger and stronger,” Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas L. Keon said. “This is an indication of the willingness of people, companies and organizations to invest in the future of the university, our students and Northwest Indiana.”
Biddings-Muro noted that many PNW alumni, Northwest Indiana corporate partners and national supporters of the Purdue Northwest campuses are significant contributors to the success of Purdue Northwest Day of Giving.
Earlier today, Stewart and Kathryn McMillan offered a challenge gift of $300,000 in matching funds supporting a new student engineering design studio at PNW’s School of Engineering.
Lakeshore Public Media offered PNW’s College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences $25,000 in airtime and advertising support to renew the 26-episode “Roundtable Perspective” program another season.
