The Indiana State Department of Health has confirmed that a Purdue University Calumet student tested positive for H1N1 (swine flu).
A student with flulike symptoms came to the university’s Student Health Services Center Thursday (4/30). After being examined by the center’s director, Maureen Panares, the student was instructed to leave campus and remain home pending official diagnosis of the ailment.
After Panares received word last weekend that preliminary tests results were H1N1 positive, the Indiana State Department of Health Monday (5/4) deferred confirmation pending further testing. Subsequently, those test results confirmed the illness as H1N1 positive.
Meantime, the ailing student continues to recover at home.
