The Purdue University Northwest Sinai Forum concludes its 2018 season by featuring Lou Holtz, the legendary college football coach who led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a national championship, at 4 p.m. CST, Sunday, Dec. 2 in the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex located at 1401 S. U.S. Highway 421 on the Westville Campus. The doors open at 3 p.m.
“Hosting prominent speakers has been the cornerstone of the Sinai Forum’s renowned 65-year history,” Executive Director Leslie Plesac said. “The Forum is designed to give audiences a unique opportunity to hear noted speakers and pose questions in a town-hall style format.”
“Lou Holtz is a dynamic coach that inspires the best in people,” said Plesac. “We’re excited to welcome him back to Indiana to have his energy and enthusiasm fill The Forum stage.”
A coach on and off the field
Holtz established himself as one of the most successful college football coaches of all time. Twenty-six seasons as a collegiate head coach earned Holtz a sterling reputation for turning pretenders into contenders. He is known for taking football programs and elevating them to the top 20; but nowhere has he done this as impressively than at the University of Notre Dame.
For many years, Lou Holtz has been considered among the greatest speaking legends in America today. He speaks on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by setting goals and working to achieve them.
Additionally, Holtz has authored three New York Times best-selling books. “The Fighting Spirit” chronicled Notre Dame’s 1988 championship season and “Winning Everyday: A Game Plan for Success” (August 1998), which has been published in several languages. His last book, released August 15, 2006, “Wins, Losses and Lessons” is an autobiography of his life and the lessons he has learned, and is also a best seller.
Students showing a valid high school or university I.D. may attend at no cost.
