The Purdue University North Central Office of Graduate and Extended Learning will offer a non-credit workshop for those who want to advance their skills in Digital Photography and Adobe Photoshop.
The program will take place at the PNC Westville campus on Thursdays from Jan. 28 to March 3 from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. each week. The registration fee for community members is $189 and special rates are available for PNC students, alumni and employees. The deadline to register is Jan. 21.
The class will be taught by PNC limited term lecturer, George Kassal. There are no prerequisites. The photography portion of this class will concentrate on how to get sharp and properly exposed photos in a variety of situations. The course will combine a mixture of lecture, discussion and guided shooting exercises that concentrate on how to use the manual controls in your digital camera. Subject matter will include close-ups, portraits, night time/blue-hour and off-camera flash.
During the Adobe Photoshop portion of the workshop, participants will import images, then use a variety of techniques involving layers, filters, color adjustments, sharpening, image modes and other adjustments to edit the images. There will also be a focus on using keyboard shortcuts the benefits of using various file formats, and file cataloging/naming techniques.
