63rd Sinai Forum concludes season with astronaut Jerry Ross
Astronaut and Northwest Indiana native Jerry Ross will detail his final space flight and discuss the state of the country’s space programs at 4 p.m. (CT), Dec. 4 during the final Purdue University Northwest Sinai Forum of the season.
The presentation titled, “Spacewalker, My Journey in Space,” will take place in the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex, located at 1401 S. US Highway 421. The doors open at 3 p.m.
Ross, a retired Air Force colonel, logged more than 4,100 hours of flight time and holds the world record for space flights with seven. He performed nine spacewalks, spending more than 58 hours in the vacuum of space.
He will share his space-race-era journey with the Sinai Forum audience – a small-town boy from Indiana who went to Purdue University to pursue his dream to be in the U.S. space program and who ultimately became one of NASA’s most highly decorated astronauts.
The author of two books, “My Journey in Space and Faith as NASA’s Record Setting Frequent Flyer” and the children’s book “Becoming a Spacewalker, My Journey to the Stars,” Ross has a passion for inspiring young people to seek their dreams. A book signing will follow the program.
The Sinai Forum presents speakers who explore compelling contemporary issues in a town-hall style forum; audience members have the opportunity to pose face-to-face questions.
Tickets are $75, which includes general seating for the program. A Patron ticket is $200, which includes reserved section seating and an exclusive reception with the speaker beginning at 2:30 p.m. (CT), prior to the program.
