Purdue University Northwest Associate Professor of Political Science Meg Rincker of Frankfort, Ill. has written a book that examines whether reforms that move political power from a national stage to local level increase women’s political participation and political influence.
The book, “Empowered by Design: Global Decentralization and the Gender Policy Trifecta” (Temple University Press, 2017), is based on 112 interviews Rincker conducted with women’s organizations and national and meso gender equality policymakers in Poland, Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Rincker, a PNW faculty member since 2008, holds a baccalaureate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Washington (MO) University in St. Louis.
