Purdue University Calumet’s Relay for Life team will host a fundraising dance Friday, June 5 from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The event will be held at the Turkey Creek Golf Club’s Banquet on the Green Center. Tickets are $20 with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Tickets will be available at the door.
Michelle Grant, Purdue Calumet director of academic space management, planning and design, and team co-captain, helped organize the Purdue Calumet team after previously participating in the Relay for Life with another organization. Assisting her as team co-captain is Leticia Toma, special projects administrator for Campus Life and the Dean of Student Office.
Comprised of nearly 50 participants, the Purdue Calumet team will participate in the June 19-20 Relay for Life at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point.
“The Relay for Life is a great way for people affected by cancer to continue the fight,” Grant said. “At Purdue Calumet, we have a strong community of caring people, making it an ideal place to form a team. In the future, we hope that this will also be a good way to get students involved.”
The June 5 fundraiser will feature live music performed by “Less Than 11,” “C-Spin” and “Form 33,” a local band comprised of Purdue Calumet employees. Food and drinks will be provided and are included in the price of admission. There also will be a drawing for a gift basket filled with prizes and specialty items, including Cubs and White Sox tickets.
