Nursing students to present health fair for New Prairie High School students
Purdue University Northwest nursing students enrolled in the Community Health class will present a health fair for all students of New Prairie High School Tuesday (10/25) at the high school. The fair will address issues related to health, safety and risk reduction.
Community and organizations taking part
Various community agencies and organizations are participating and will address real world issues this student population may encounter. Students will have an opportunity to visit interactive booths and displays, collect information, ask questions, and participate in vision screening, learning activities and demonstrations.
Give-away items will be offered, and gift certificates and awards will be available as door prizes for all participating students.
Topics being addressed at the fair include health care, keeping fit and healthy, healthy food choices, bullying, stress management and motorcycle safety.
The fair is presented under the direction of Peggy Rose, PNW associate professor of Nursing, in cooperation with Ann Klute, La Porte County Health Department Health educator; Joseph Bunch of the La Porte County Drug Free Partnership and La Porte County Dorothy S. Crowley Juvenile Services Center; and the New Prairie High School Wellness Committee.
