“‘Wonder of the World’ presented a fantastic staging and performance challenge for our students and alumni in the cast and crew,” Purdue Northwest Assistant Professor of English Bethany Lee said. “A farce that explores the humor in some of our darkest impulses and highest hopes, the play sheds light on human frailty, love, death, and fate, all at a breakneck comedic pace.”
Distraught after experiencing a horrific betrayal in her marriage, young Cass takes a surprise trip to Niagara Falls to restart her life. Along the way, she befriends Lois, who is set on staying in a drunken stupor and going over the falls; a dashing sea boat captain, who seems to be Cass’ soulmate; and a wacky couple, who may have something up their sleeves.
Lee hopes audiences enjoy the bucket lists, elderly gumshoes, scotch and soda glasses, Winnebagos, and four-gallon jars of peanut butter Cass encounters. It’s a wild adventure filled with twists and turns, plenty of laughs, and even some life lessons along the way.
Join student cast and crew members Victoria Bengston, Nikole Brashear, Samantha Brumley, Brianna Buckner, Daniel Cieply, Annabelle Engel, Davina Jackson, Emily Janik, Abbie Michaels, Kaitlyn Murrell, and Ian Norris and alumni Cortney McIntosh Holt and Andrew Holt for this comedic and inspiring performance.
