Public invited to event set for October 25, 2018!
The Society of Innovators at Purdue Northwest (SOI) will be officially “re-launched” at an All-Members and Leaders Meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the Venue at Horseshoe Casino, 777 Casino Drive, Hammond.
The first meeting of the new partnership marks an “historic” event for Northwest Indiana through its affiliation with Purdue University Northwest, said Gary Johnson, Society Chair. “This is a tremendous opportunity to deepen the culture of innovation in our region through this exciting affiliation.”
Joining SOI officials in highlighting the benefits will be Thomas L. Keon, Chancellor of Purdue Northwest (PNW). Among the benefits include deepening a culture of innovation by encouraging existing companies to create jobs, expanding educational programming in cooperation with PNW and its faculty; and creating national awareness of NWI as a center for innovation and entrepreneurship.
In extending an invitation to Members of The Society, NWI Leaders, and the general public, SOI officials described SOI as “stronger, bigger, more engaged, and having new leadership with an expanded vision.”
These expanded opportunities will deepen both the SOI’s and PNW’s impact on the economic, social, and cultural well-being of Northwest Indiana. The event will include a panel discussion of SOI innovators where attendees will have the opportunity to “Ask an Innovator.”
Identified were two objectives for the meeting:
1. Celebrate the SOI: past, present, and into the future; engage our Members, reaffirm our belief that ‘anyone can be an innovator,” and emphasize that SOI is critical to the success of Northwest Indiana.
2. Engage SOI Members and other leaders to support and participate in The Society of Innovators for educational opportunities, networking and to increase opportunities for new programming. This action will expand innovation as a driver of community and economic development with the educational and research capabilities of PNW and its faculty.
The cost is $40 per ticket. Please RSVP by Friday, October 19, 2018. If you have any questions, call John Davies, Event Coordinator, at 219 989-2805 or via firstname.lastname@example.org.
