A record number of PNW students showed up for the Registration Kick-Off Bonfire on the Hammond campus lawn to learn about class registration support opportunities, socialize with friends and roast marshmallows by a fire.
In collaboration, the Office of New Student Orientation and the Office of the Registrar hosted the annual event in Founders Plaza on Tuesday, October 17. More than 160 students attended, garnering the largest turnout to date for this event.
Apple cider, hot chocolate and s’more kits filled with marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers were provided and handed out by New Student Orientation Leaders. The enthusiastic leaders mingled throughout the crowd providing registration and student support information to those who gathered around the fire.
Kirsten Nirtaut, graduate professional in the Office of New Student Orientation was pleased with the turnout of the event. “The event was very successful. Plenty of students were hanging out and people were asking questions about registering and other resources available to them.”
Anticipating high attendance numbers, the New Student Orientation Leaders organized and filled hundreds of treat bags and designed college-specific step-by-step guides and open lab assistance flyers.
For students looking for assistance with registering for spring 2018, the Office of New Student Orientation is holding open lab sessions in the Student Union & Library, Room 101 on the Hammond Campus and in the Library Student Faculty Building, Room 202 on the Westville Campus.
