DESCRIPTION:Join us for a presentation in a series of faculty lectures this fall. A 20-minute lecture will be followed by time for questions and discussion. The lectures will take place on Zoom. \nRussell Mayo\, Ph.D.\nTeaching English Teachers in the Anthropocene \nJOIN VIA ZOOM \nAbout The Lecture \nClimate change has been called a “wicked problem” – a complex dilemma for which there are no easy solutions. Unfortunately\, humanities teachers and teacher educators have largely ignored the climate crisis in our teaching and research. English teachers concerned about this issue face our own “wicked problem”… how might we engage our students with climate change as both the content and context for literacy education today? In this talk\, assistant professor of English at PNW and Writing Center director Russell Mayo will address this question by discussing his ongoing research with local secondary English teachers. \nQuestions?
