SUMMARY:Podcast Party: Unleaded - Flint Water Crisis
DESCRIPTION:America Dissected: Unleaded – Flint Water Crisis\n\nThe Flint Water Crisis dominated national headlines when it emerged in 2016—focusing national attention on the hazards of lead poisoning. Newark\, New Jersey is facing a similar crisis today. But Flint and Newark are only the tip of the iceberg of an epidemic of lead poisoning facing urban communities across the country. \nAbdul El-Sayed visits Flint to speak with Mona Hanna-Attisha\, the pediatrician and researcher who uncovered the Water Crisis to understand how Flint’s history shaped the government failures that led to the crisis—and how distrust can devastate public health for poor\, marginalized communities all across the United States. \nAfter the podcast\, we’ll play a game called ‘Drink\, Dump or Dare’ to explore what the eyes don’t see. \nSnacks will be provided by the PNW Food Systems Initiatives. \nPlease bring your drink in a reusable bottle for a chance to win! \nZOOM LINK \nEmail us for info at sustainpnw@pnw.edu or check out our page at Sustain PNW

SUMMARY:Podcast Party - This Idea Will Save the World
DESCRIPTION:The Marie Forleo Podcast – This Idea Will Save the World – Kate Raworth on ‘Doughnut Economics’\n \nThis renegade economist just redrew the picture of economic success — and it’s saving the planet. Kate Raworth’s internationally best-selling book\, “Doughnut Economics\,” has influenced audiences from the UN General Assembly to Pope Francis\, to the Extinction Rebellion. But don’t let the word “economics” scare you away. Doughnut economics is simple\, profound and can start at home. For hundreds of years western economics has touted “growth equals progress!” That assumption isn’t just wrong — it’s dangerous. The doughnut puts a new goal at the center. An economic system that focuses on human thriving without depleting or destroying the earth that sustains us. \nAfter the podcast\, we will have a systems thinking activity. \nSnacks will be provided by the PNW Food Systems Initiatives. \nPlease bring your drink in a reusable bottle for a chance to win! \nLocation\nSynchronous Zoom and In-Person (Professional Selling Lab: HTMB 183—Hammond Campus) \nZOOM LINK \nIf you have any further questions! Feel free to email us for more info at sustainpnw@pnw.edu or check out our page at Sustainable Purdue University Northwest
