Purdue University Northwest (PNW) kicks-off preparations for the annual Day of Giving at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11 at Byway Brewing Company. Come join the fun with the entire PNW community. PNW Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraising marathon set for April 24.
Last year’s campaign set a new record for participation, and Coordinator of Annual Giving Programs Alyssa Strbjak is confident that the efforts underway for the 2019 campaign will give even more members of the PNW community a chance to be a superhero.
“We’d like northwest Indiana and beyond to ‘Hear Us Roar’ on Day of Giving,” said Strbjak. “This is our single largest fundraising day of the year. We invite our students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and surrounding community to join forces to make a huge impact by way of scholarships and program support for current and future PNW students.”
This year’s campaign is strategically focused on increasing participation. In addition to the kickoff event April 11 at Byway Brewing Company and having a physical presence on both campuses on Day of Giving, more than 32,000 people will be engaged with the help of the PNW Alumni Community, college deans, Athletics, Sinai Forum and Gabis Arboretum.
Strbjak is anticipating even more participation from an already engaged PNW community. A little friendly competition doesn’t hurt either. Colleges will be actively competing for the most donations; and new this year, student organizations will vie for recognition for most money raised.
“The biggest myth regarding Day of Giving is that your donation does not mean anything unless it is $1,000 or more. This could not be further from the truth. Gifts of all sizes make a difference. The day is about participation, not the size of the gift,” said Strbjak.
So be PNW Proud and make a gift, then spread the word!
