Carissa Jones

    Carissa J.

    What’s your educational background?

I received a bachelor's degree in Communication with a concentration in public relations from Purdue Northwest in 2018. I have also received my Masters in Business Administration from the University of St. Francis in 2021.

    Professional interests:

I was a volleyball player all the way up until I graduated from Purdue Northwest and then from there I went into coaching. I realized quickly that it wasn’t just volleyball that I enjoyed, it was helping kids and high school age students figure out what motivates them and building confidence in what they are passionate about. I think that is why I was drawn to undergraduate admissions counseling. No matter what dream or aspiration someone has it is never too big and I would love to help create a plan to achieve that goal.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I am a bookworm! I love to read and within a year can read around 50 books. I try to raise and meet my goal every year.

What do you love about PNW?

The list of things that I love about PNW could go on forever. If I had to share one thing it would be all the amazing people that you can meet. I have met some life changing professors, administrators, mentors and many of my best friends at PNW. I grew up 15 minutes from the campus and while here I was able to make friends from all over the country and world which was actually really exciting and still talk to most of them today.

    Best college search tip:

Listen to your gut! If you feel like the place you are visiting has a welcoming and homey feel then it is probably a good fit for you. This feeling varies for every person and on every campus. There is a college out there for everyone so make sure you find the place that feels right for you.
