Shelley M. Marshall, M.S.N., R.N.
Visiting Clinical Professor
Visiting Clinical Professor in Foundations of Nursing and Medical-Surgical Nursing, as well as didactic instruction in Foundations of Psychosocial Nursing.
In my "first life," I was an opera, vocal jazz, and theater major in college! Not only did I perform professionally, but I was part of the Purdue Song Company and a Theater Co. production of "Nunsense!" right here at (then) Purdue Calumet. My late mom, who was a very talented thespian, and I both appear in the Purdue Calumet 50th Anniversary book!
I enjoy serving as a mentor to my students, encouraging them and building their confidence by teaching them not only the hands-on skills they will need but, more importantly, the power of assessment and critical thinking. Providing real-life experiences and guiding them through clinical/disease concepts while helping them build therapeutic patient relationships has become a successful formula.
For 20 years, I have been in Operational & Clinical Practice Management in the outpatient setting in primary care and specialty areas. Upon graduating from DePaul in 2010, I added nursing into management allowing me to expand my depth of knowledge and care for my patients.
