HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, Ind. – Following the conclusion of the Fall 2020 semester, the Purdue University Northwest Athletics Department once again is proud to announce impressive GPA results earned by PNW Pride student-athletes.
Collectively, the PNW student-athletes combined to record a cumulative team GPA of 3.40 as all 13 NCAA teams logged a 3.0 or better in Fall 2020.
The department has now registered 10 consecutive semesters with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.

Rick Costello said. "I applaud all of the hard work and amazing efforts by student-athletes, along with our faculty and staff, and I'm proud of the way they continue to persevere and adapt through challenging times. It was another historic semester in the classroom for the Pride."
Last fall's 3.40 mark is the second-highest cumulative team GPA in department history, trailing only Spring 2020's record-setting GPA of 3.48.
Individually, nearly 80 percent of student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better in Fall 2020. A total of 38 student-athletes logged a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The PNW tennis teams posted the highest team GPA scores among the Pride men's and women's NCAA programs last fall. Women's Tennis produced a stellar 3.75 team GPA while Men's Tennis recorded a team GPA of 3.65. Those are the highest team GPA's ever for both programs.
Academic success has been a consistent source of pride for PNW Athletics, especially in recent years as eight programs posted individual team-record GPA's in just the last two semesters.
In Fall 2020, teams that set a new standard for academic success within their programs were women's tennis (3.75), men's tennis (3.65), men's cross country (3.52) and men's basketball (3.36). Additionally, PNW's men's ice hockey club program posted a team-record 3.10 GPA last semester.
