PNW Student-Athletes Set New GPA Record

The Pride set a new GPA record for the PNW Athletics department in the 2020 spring semester

HAMMOND & WESTVILLE, Ind. -- The Purdue University Northwest Athletics Department set a new record with a 3.43 GPA during the 2020 spring semester. In their quest for academic excellence, all 13 NCAA varsity programs finished with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the second consecutive semester.

"Congratulations to the PNW Pride student-athletes on their amazing academic achievements!" said Director of Athletics Rick Costello. "Thanks to Chancellor Keon, the faculty and staff for creating such a wonderful learning environment. I commend the Pride on their hard work and resiliency as they have set a new record high GPA. I am so proud of the Pride"

The Pride were led this term by the women's golf program, setting a department record of 3.85.

"I'm very proud of these young women and the amazing work they put into their academics," said Head Golf Coach Randy Wexter. "They really adapted well to the change to the online format. They have set new standards for our program and our athletic department."

Also setting team GPA records were Women's Tennis (3.74), Baseball (3.48), and Men's Cross Country (3.39).  32 student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 and 175 student-athletes across the department ended the 2020 spring semester with a GPA of a 3.0 or higher. We are so proud of the outstanding work by the PNW Pride in the classroom, in competition and in the community.
