Minor in Youth Studies

A youth studies minor helps you prepare for a career working with children and adolescents in any capacity. With it, you will learn about what programs or interventions are developmentally appropriate for children of different ages and how childhood trauma impacts functioning throughout the lifespan. Relevant career areas include child life specialist, juvenile detention and reform, child psychology, foster care, and head start and other early intervention programs. Some courses in the minor also count in other majors and minors. The Youth Studies minor can only be completed by taking courses on the Hammond campus of Purdue University Northwest. Some required courses are not available online or on the Westville campus.
