SUMMARY:Senior Academic Super Bowl
DESCRIPTION:Purdue University Northwest (PNW) will welcome almost 500 local high school students to its annual Academic Senior Super Bowl. This is the 14th year that PNW will host the event at its beautiful Westville campus. In addition to the two nights in Westville\, for the first time ever\, there will be an event for Lake County high school students at the Hammond campus as well. \nLocation\nFor the first two nights\, the invitational will be hosted inside the Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex at the Westville campus. The event\, held on both March 8 and 9\, gathers students from multiple Northwest Indiana high schools for engaging\, fast-paced academic question competition rounds. \nOn March 8\, starting at approximately 4:30 p.m.\, around 225 students from nine high schools in Porter county will split into groups of three\, competing in rounds in several subject areas\, including Math\, English\, Science\, Fine Arts and Social Studies. This year’s theme is “The Age of Exploration: 1400-1650.” \nAwards and Speakers\nThe award ceremony\, led by Anne Gregory\, dean of the College of Education\, Humanities and Social Sciences\, will honor a first\, second and third place team in each event. One school will be crowned as the invitational champion at the end. \nRachel Meyers\, coordinator of students and school partnerships\, will emcee. Dean Gregory and Kenneth C. Holford\, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs\, will deliver opening remarks\, and the PNW admissions team will host a “PNW Pride Social” before the event. \nParticipants\nThe March 9 invitational date will host around 185 high school students from different high schools across La Porte County\, Oregon-Davis and North White. \nThe March 15 invitational date will host around 63 high school students from Bishop Noll Institute\, East Chicago Central\, Griffith and Munster.
