#11 DI Hockey becomes GLCHL Champions for first-time in program history

The #11 Purdue Northwest ACHA DI Hockey earn the programs first-ever GLCHL Championship after taking down #2 Adrian in the finals on Saturday night, 5-3. The win gives them an automatic birth to the ACHA DI National Tournament, the first time in the programs history as well.

Inside The Numbers
  • Sophomore Andrew Remer (Lake Orion, Mich./) led the Pride with two goals.
  • Freshman Ryan Kerr (Redford, Mich.), sophomore Hayden Masloski (Andover, Minn./), and freshman RJ Swaw (Orland Park, Ill.) each netted a goal for Purdue Northwest.
  • Junior Sam Bourdages (Hearst, Ontario/) chipped in an assist during the game.
  • Sophomore Cooper Olson (Maple Grove, Minn./) played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Pride and recorded 62 saves to earn the win. Olson was honored after the end of the game, receiving GLCHL Tournament MVP.
  • Chad Noetzel led Adrian with one goal and one assist.
  • Noah Decottignies played all 60 minutes in the net for the Bulldogs making 13 total saves.
The Breakdown
  • Adrian grabbed the lead first scoring the lone goal in the first period going up 1-0.
  • The Pride tied up the game 1-1 in the first eight minutes of the second period off a short-handed goal by Masloski.
  • Purdue Northwest grabbed the lead 2-1 on a power play goal by Remer with ten minutes left in the second period.
  • The Bulldogs then tied it with their own power play goal and game would go into the third period tied up, 2-2.
  • In the third period, the Pride scored three more goals to Adrian's one to make it 5-3 and with great goalkeeping in the end sealed the win and GLCHL Championship.
Up Next
  • The Pride now wait and see where they will be in the ACHA DI National Tournament in St. Louis, Mo. The tournament will begin in March.
