Lorenzo earns GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and Williams named GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year for Men's Soccer; Six PNW players recognized for All-GLIAC selections

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced their 2023 Men's Soccer Player Awards and All-GLIAC teams. Senior forward Hugo Lorenzo (Madrid, Spain/Guzman el Bueno (William Penn)) was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year with First Team honors and senior goalkeeper Eligh Williams (Gympie, Queensland, Australia/The Southport School) earned GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year with First-Team honors as well. Three more Pride men's soccer players were recognized with team selections with senior forward Jacob Battista (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Dt Kevin's College (Viterbo University)), senior defender Martin Murillo (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail), and senior defender Flavio Nardecchia (Viterbo, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Mariano Buratti (St. Andrews)) notched Second Team honors while graduate student midfielder Ryan Moran (Perth, Western Australia/Jerudong International School) earned Honorable Mention accolades.

Purdue Northwest senior forward Hugo Lorenzo (Madrid, Spain/Guzman el Bueno (William Penn)) (Madrid, Spain) was honored as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year along with First Team accolades. Lorenzo is the first-ever PNW men's soccer player to receive this award as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year. Lorenzo was dynamic on the offensive end this season for the Pride after transferring in from William Penn. The senior led the conference in goals (13), points (30), and game-winning goals (4), while also adding four assists for Purdue Northwest. Nationally, Lorenzo ranked tied-seventh in total goals scored this season and tied-11th in total points. Lorenzo dominated the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Awards this season, winning four times, including two in-a-row in October.

Purdue Northwest senior goalkeeper Eligh Williams (Gympie, Queensland, Australia/The Southport School) (Queensland, Australia) has earned GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team honors for the 2023 season. Williams is the first-ever PNW men's soccer goalkeeper to earn this outstanding recognition. Williams was a menace defensively all season long for the Pride. In his 14 starts, Williams led the GLIAC in goals against average (0.79), save percentage (0.831), and shutouts (8) which were all career-highs. He also ended the season with a career-best 54 saves. His goals against average put him Top-20 in the NCAA and save percentage notched at 11th in the country. Williams helped lead the Pride to an 8-3-4 overall record and was GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.

Battista earned Second Team honors while starting all 15 games for Purdue Northwest this season. He was second on the team in goals (6) and points (16) while also tied for first in assists with four. Battista was second in the conference in total points and third in the GLIAC with goals. He also finished with three game-winning goals.

Murrillo received Second Team honors for the second-straight season. He started 14 games this season for the Pride and tallied on assist while being one of the leaders of the defense. Nardecchia also earned Second Team honors for the Pride this 2023 campaign while starting 14 games and notching one assist to help strengthen the backline of the defense.

Moran earned his second-straight Honorable Mention accolade after starting all 15 games for Purdue Northwest recording one assist and guiding the Pride midfield this season on the pitch.

The 2-seeded Pride next host their first-ever GLIAC Tournament Semi-Finals when they host the 3-seeded Davenport Panthers on Sunday, November 5 at Dowling Park with kick-off at 1:00 p.m. CT.
