November 19, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

This presentation will convey how to quantify the ecological quality of an area, will present how our area became such an ecological gem, will illustrate some of our most wondrous habitats, and will communicate the important need for restoration of our ecological gem. Your visits to our local nature preserves will take on new anticipation and excitement from now on!

Dr. Spencer CortwrightDr. Spencer Cortwright is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at IU Northwest. He is well regarded as an expert in the local ecology of Northwest Indiana and has been training students and engaging the public around the science of restoration throughout the region. On most days you will find him working in the Little Calumet Wetlands and Prairie adjacent to the IUN campus, an important site in the ecological restoration of this largely urbanized region.

Program is free. Non-members must pay arboretum admission fee of $10 per carload upon entry.
