Annual Reminder Campus Closing Notification Procedures

January 8, 2024

As we approach our first winter storm, it is a good time to review campus notification procedures in the case of inclement weather.

The AlertMe app is our preferred method of announcing severe weather warnings, suspension of on-site campus operations and campus closings. If you are not signed up, we strongly recommend you do so by using the following link: www.pnw.edu/public-safety/services/alert-me/.

From time to time, it may become necessary to suspend in-person, on-site campus operations at one or both of the PNW campuses due to adverse weather conditions or other emergencies. If we must alter normal campus operations, we will notify students, faculty and staff in the manner listed below. Notifications to students, faculty and staff will begin as soon as possible after a decision is made to suspend on-site campus operations or to close a campus.

Please note: if on-site campus operations are suspended or if a campus is closed, classes will not be canceled. Instructional activities at PNW will shift to remote learning for the duration of the closure. Staff who are able to work remotely will do so for the duration of the closure.
