Facilitated Student Feedback
Gain actionable insights into your students’ learning experience with a consultant‑led feedback session.
Facilitated Student Feedback (FSF) is a service offered by the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) throughout the academic year to help instructors understand how students are experiencing their course.
While you step out, a CFE consultant leads a brief, structured discussion with students while gathering anonymous, theme‑based feedback about what is supporting their learning and where improvements could be made.
Afterward, the consultant meets with you to review the findings and explore practical strategies for strengthening teaching and learning in your course. FSF visits can take 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the enrollment in your course.

Benefits of Facilitated Student Feedback
Actionable Feedback
FSF gives faculty specific, concrete suggestions from students while the course is still in progress, allowing them to make targeted tweaks that can immediately improve learning and classroom climate.
Increased Student Engagement and Motivation
When students see that their instructor seeks feedback and responds thoughtfully, they feel more invested and it strengthens the instructor-student relationship.
Provides a Neutral, Confidential Perspective
Because the CFE facilitates, gathers, and summarizes the feedback, faculty receive honest student insights without the emotional strain that sometimes comes with direct, unfiltered evaluations. Students are often more honest with a neutral third-party than they are when providing feedback directly to the instructor.
