Google Workspace Retirement

Purdue Northwest Faculty, Staff and Students,
In February 2026, the Google Workspace environment at Purdue Northwest will be retired. Services such as email, office tools, etc. will transition to Microsoft 365.
This change will improve user experience and service integration while allowing easier file sharing and communication among Purdue University, Purdue Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest users using the Microsoft 365 suite.
The email provider for PNW students will transition from Google (Gmail) to Microsoft (Exchange).
- Email addresses (username@pnw.edu) will NOT change. Purdue IT will automatically transfer your emails from Google to Microsoft.
- Passwords will NOT change.
What will change?
- To access Microsoft 365, you will need to use your username@purdue.edu credentials.
- Google Calendar will no longer be available. They will transition to Outlook calendars.
- Google Drive will no longer be available. Files stored on Google Drive will automatically be transferred to Microsoft OneDrive.
- Google Workspace tools, such as Docs, Sheets and Slides, will no longer be accessible. Instead, users can access Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Sign-in with Google (using your username@pnw.edu email address) will no longer function. PNW faculty, staff and students who use that to sign into software, websites or mobile devices should transition to a personal email address immediately.
- Google Classroom will no longer be available.
