Arpan Mahara’s research focuses on trustworthy and safe generative artificial intelligence. One aspect of his work involves developing AI models with strong algorithmic and mathematical foundations. Another aspect focuses on developing forensic and agentic systems capable of detecting and explaining AI-generated and manipulated content.

Dr. Mahara has authored more than ten peer-reviewed publications in venues such as the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), the IEEE Conference on Artificial Intelligence, the IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV 2026) Workshops, the CVPR 2026 Workshops, the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Machine Learning and Applications (ICMLA), Computer Science Review, and AI in Remote Sensing.
He also co-authored a keynote presentation on robust generative AI for geospatial applications at the Fourth Serbian International Conference on Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI 2025). He is the first inventor on two pending patent applications involving trustworthy AI and AI forensics.
