Public Records and Subpoenas

The office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (VCFA) is responsible for responding to requests directed to PNW for both public records and subpoenas.

If your department receives a written or emailed request for a public record, please immediately email the request to public.recordsrequests@pnw.edu and be sure to include the date it was received and by whom. We are required to respond to such requests within days after receipt, so please be sure to forward them in a timely manner.

If you receive a verbal request or an in-person request for public records, direct the requester to the PNW Public Records web site or call the Record Request Administrator at (219) 989-2232 for further directions.

Similarly, if your department receives a subpoena, please immediately forward the document via email to public.recordsrequests@pnw.edu and be sure to include the date on which it was received and by whom. Subpoenas are also time-sensitive documents that require immediate response.

If staff responsible for handling mail in your department work a hybrid-remote schedule, please ensure protocols are in place to prevent delays should a subpoena be delivered on days when the assigned staff member is not on campus.
