Purdue IT is migrating voice services at Purdue Northwest (PNW) to Microsoft Teams calling. Phone numbers will be ported in waves starting in late October/early November, and users will be notified approximately two weeks prior to their planned migration date.

Existing physical phones will continue to function as normal until the individual number has been moved to Microsoft Teams. Once ported, calling moves to the Microsoft Teams app (which must be running to handle calls). Physical phones will continue to ring for some internal calls during the transition phase, but all physical desk phones will be fully decommissioned once campus-wide migration concludes.

Following the transition to Microsoft Teams Calling, users will gain access to a dial pad and phone number within the Teams application. Please note that internal calling is already fully functional within Teams: users can initiate calls at any time by searching for a colleague’s name in Teams. Name-based calling is the standard and recommended approach for internal communications.
