“Roaring Back to School” Backpack Giveaway

Dear PNW Campus Community,

In just a few weeks, we will proudly host our fourth annual “Roaring Back to School” Backpack Giveaway on both campuses. This signature event is one of the many ways Purdue University Northwest demonstrates its commitment to serving our surrounding communities.

Each year, we welcome hundreds of K–12 students and their families to campus to receive backpacks filled with school supplies, connect with valuable campus and community resources, enjoy refreshments and celebrate the start of a new school year.

To help make this event a success, the Backpack Giveaway Committee is asking for your support by participating in our campus-wide school supply collection drive. Every donated notebook, pack of pencils, folder or box of crayons helps ensure that local students begin the school year equipped with the tools they need to learn, grow and succeed.

To make things even more fun, departments and colleges will once again compete for the Golden Backpack Award! The challenge is simple: earn the most points by donating school supplies. Last year, the Admissions Department claimed the title. Can your department take home the Golden Backpack this year?

Please see the attached flyer for a list of requested items and their point values. All donated items can be dropped off at the Welcome Center on both campuses. Be sure to label them with your college/department name. The competition starts Tuesday, July 14 and ends on Tuesday, August 4.

We also invite you to volunteer at one of our Backpack Giveaway events. Whether you help distribute supplies, greet families or assist with activities, your time and enthusiasm can make a lasting impression on the children and families we serve. It’s a meaningful opportunity to represent PNW, build community connections and help students start the school year feeling excited and supported.
